Tropical Birthday

WOW – I have missed you all!!

I have been gone on a week long Youth Girls Camp with my church! I was in the beautiful mountains of Utah – no cell service or internet and no distractions! It was really quite lovely!!

And for the week leading up to that camp I was crazy busy getting all the crafts and cutesy things ready for the girls!! I was in charge of the three crafts we did up there – I will be posting about them soon!

But with all that busyness I have not been to visit any of you and I have not posted anything on my blog!!

I am back now and I have been resting and trying to get some blog visits in – I will be to yours soon!!

I have made a card – A tropical birthday card!!

~ Tropical Happy Birthday, Monkey!! ~

pineapplemonkeyadj

This card was made using a Your Next Stamp set called Jungle Critters, Watercolor paper, my “Ziggy“s, A Versafine Black ink pad and clear embossing powder. The pineapple is from the Tropical Paradise set from Sunny Studio Stamps. I shaded with Creamy Caramel and Bashful Blue ink (both from SU!). Masking was definitely involved! Adding wiggly eyes to the monkey was like putting icing on a cake!

~I am very happily linking this card up to these challenges~

My card is most definitely Tropical!!

Simon Says Stamp Monday ChallengeChallenge: Flora and Fauna

Definition: Flora is plant life; fauna refers to animals. The handiest way to remember flora and fauna is that “flora” sounds like flowers, which are part of the plant world, and fauna sounds like “fawn,” and fawns are part of the animal kingdom.

I used Flora – my coconut tree and Fauna – my monkey!

I will be around to visit all of you as soon as I can!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

Winnie & Walter Share the Love – Days 3, 4, and 5

Here I am with my other 3 cards for the Winnie & Walter Share the Love featuring Essentials by Ellen!

sharetheloveww

Hang on tight – this is ANOTHER LONG post!!!

~ Sparkly Fireworks Background card ~

wwbackgroundadj

I began with this card to die cut a stitched rectangle (Lawn Fawn) out of some shiny silver paper. I then cut a piece of white card stock to fit just inside the stitched lines. Then I stamped the dandelion looking image from Bohemian Garden by Essentials by Ellen. I stamped with Versamark ink, embossed with silver powder and then stamped slightly off again with Brilliant Blue and Real Red (SU!).  The hope was to create a background – a sky full of fireworks, hopefully you see it! I stamped the little stars from the Sugar Rush set by Winnie & Walter in the same colors. Using the same silver paper and a sentiment from the Sugar Rush set I used white embossing powder  to make a banner and added that to my card.

My card is definitely Red, White, AND Blue!!!

For my fourth card I made this:

~ Transparent Birthday Card with Flowers ~

wwtransparentadj

Began with a top folding A2 card of Cool Caribbean card stock (SU!) Added a horizontal stitched strip (MFT) from Certainly Celery card stock (SU!) that I cut a notch in. A circle was die cut (MFT) out of watercolor paper to stamp the flowers from Bohemian Garden set made by Essentials by Ellen. I used Only Orange, Cool Caribbean, Certainly Celery ink (all SU!) to stamp my garden of flowers, then I blended the colors with a wet paintbrush. Splatters of Night of Navy ink (SU!) were added. Die cut the word Happy from Winnie & Walter out of Night of Navy card stock. The vellum piece was die cut using a stitched rectangle (Lawn Fawn). I stamped the word birthday from the Sugar Rush set (also W&W) with Versamark ink and embossed it with white powder. The sentiment was added using foam squares that I had trimmed down and for extra bling I added sequins with some micro glue dots!

~I am headed over with this card to play in these challenges~

My fifth and final card made yesterday:

~ Just a Note Trifold Card ~

wwmoodboard1adj  wwmoodboard2adj

Taking a 4″ by 8″ piece of white card stock – I scored it at 2″ and 6″ – I then added some  American Crafts gold glitter paper to each edge and then folded them together to get a tri-fold card. I mounted this part to a 4 1/4 square of black card stock. I stamped the 3 small hearts, large heart and the just a note sentiment from the Fancy Thanks set made by Essentials by Ellen. The star and banner came from the Winnie & Walter set called Sugar Rush. The colors I used were Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Cool Caribbean, Only Orange, and Marigold Morning. (All from Stampin’ Up!). The sentiment was stamped in Versafine black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

~ Sparkly Floral Happy Birthday ~

wwfloraladj

My sparkly Happy Birthday card involved some Inlaid die cutting, embossing, and stenciling.

I started by stenciling my background using Night of Navy ink and the Falling Snow stencil from Simon Says Stamp. I die cut using Happy Cutaway from Winnie & Walter – cutting one from my background and one from American Crafts gold glitter paper.  The flower was stamped in gold embossing powder and colored in with Calypso Coral  ink (SU!) and a wet paintbrush. The set used was Bohemian Garden from Essentials by Ellen. And the word birthday also embossed in gold is from the Sugar Rush set by W & W. The doodles around the edges were done using a Night of Navy marker (SU!). I added sequins and a coral colored pearl for the flowers’ center!

~I am HAPPY to link this card up to the following challenges~

Feel Better Girl

Alrighty, here is the last of my SEVEN cards I made on Friday!!

But, Guess What??? I made 5 more last night! I am so excited – they are all for the Winnie & Walter’s Share The Love!

I will be posting them all after I return from church this afternoon!

~ Feel Better Girl card ~

SugarPea3adj

I made this card really fast – well, except for the coloring, maybe! The red paper is from my scrap box and I had the embellishment as a magnet on my file cabinet so I removed the magnet – die cut the smallest circle from MFT  and stamped my sentiment on it! I used 1″ Glue Dots to adhere it to the card.

For the large circle  I die cut it from MFT from watercolor paper. I stamped her and her friends in Versafine ink and embossed them with clear powder . Colored her in using my “Ziggy“s. The set I used is called Sniffles and Snuggles from Sugar Pea Designs.

On watercolor paper I stamped the Toucan in the Jungle Critters stamp set from Your Next StampI stamped the image and the sentiment with Versafine black ink and embossed with clear powder.  Colored him in with my “Ziggy“s. Isn’t he so adorable? Using micro glue dots I added wiggly eyes. The cute sentiment is from the Party Animal set from Avery Elle.

The videos and instruction on all of these topics has been so inspiring to me and I am excited to create and participate!

Day 1 – GLITZY GLITTER

~Sweet As Can Bee Card ~

sweetascanbeeadj

I love this cute bee girl that is sadly a retired stamp set from MFT – it is a big favorite with me, so I hope it is ok that I used her for this card. I stamped her in Versafine black ink on watercolor paper, embossed with clear embossing powder and used my “Ziggy“s to color her in. How I added my Doodlebug glitter: I put down two strips of crafty power tape from Scrapbook Adhesives and poured my Beetle Black glitter onto them and rubbed my finger over it to press it in to the tape. For the yellow glitter-y triangles I used an SU! set called Little Shapes and stamped them with YoYo Yellow craft (pigment) ink and then put the Bumblebee glitter on while still wet – It did not stick horribly well but there is some shimmer there! Some Doodlebug Sequins added another touch of glitz and my card is done!

This card was made up of scrap papers – I used MFT‘s BluePrints # 1 to do all the layers for my card. My main image (yes, I am using the adorable Bee girl again) was stamped on watercolor paper with Versafine black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder and then I water colored her using my “Ziggy“s and a wet paintbrush.

Such a fun image to color – I love it.

DAY 4 – DELIGHTFUL DIE-CUTTING

~ You’re Brilliant card ~

brilliantadj

My lightbulb card was die cut using Lightbulb Die-namics from MFT.  Scrap paper was used for all pieces, including the vellum and shiny silver paper, except for the cool chevron paper – that was part of a prize from MFT. One of their paper pads – I die cut the panel using Vertical Stitched Rectangles. Sentiment (from this set) was stamped on it with Versamark Ink and embossed with white powder. For the rays I used two post-it notes and placed them and then sponged Daffodil Delight ink in between where I placed the papers. After all the rays were sponged I added Wink of Stella to each of the rays and the vellum layer of the lightbulb.

Morning Is NOT my Friend!

So, this morning I woke up early and could not go back to sleep.

I decided to go in my craft room and play!

~ Morning is NOT my Friend card ~

morningnotfriendadj

This fun and simple card started with a top folding Only Orange (SU!) card base. To that I added some scraps that were cut with Paper Smooches Scalloped Frames – I inlaid the middle back in the frame. I stamped the Coffee Loving girl from the Moka Sunshine set from Taylored Expressions onto watercolor paper. I stamped in black Versafine ink and embossed with clear powder. Of course, I colored her in with my “Ziggy“s, fussy cut her out and put her on my card with foam squares. A speech bubble was added and two of the sentiments from Moka Sunshine were added. One was embossed with white embossing powder. A few random enamel dots and jewels spiced it up!

There is SUNSHINE in my soul today!

I needed a little pick-me-up this morning so I went into my craft room to play around a bit!

I played around with my “Ziggy”s, a die cut and a stencil.

Using those things I made two sunshine cards!

~Sunshine Happy Birthday~

birthdaysunadj

To make this card I used a circle die cut as a guide on my watercolor paper. I cut my paper using the stitched rectangles from Lawn Fawn – LOVE those!! See the photo below. Then I used 3 colors of  “Ziggy“s – yellow, bright yellow , and orange and colored in some with each color and then used a wet paintbrush to blend the colors.

makingsun

Then to make the rays I used a Simon Says Stamp Layered Tree Stencil. (See Below) I used the zig pens to trace the outline of the stencil and then filled it in by wetting the ink and blending it with a wet paintbrush.

treestencil

Finished off the card by doing a really, really light blue wash and added a sentiment from SU! – stamped it with Only Orange craft ink and embossed it with clear powder.

To add a little pizzazz to my card I used some Doodlebug Sprinkles – Tangerine and BumbleBee.

~Fetching You a Happy Birthday~

dogfetchadj

To make this card I used the Fetching Friendship set from Newton’s Nook to stamp that lovable black lab. scraps were used to cut the pinked circle and the torn rectangle. I stamped the tennis ball on the green paper. I colored in with my “Ziggy”s.  After assembling all the pieces I decided to jazz it up with some Double Click Skittles and some wood veneer arrows that I inked up so they were matching the colors on the card.
