Daisy Happy Birthday

As I was cleaning up my craft room these past couple weeks I kept discovering images I had stamped and colored, some of them were even cut out. I started putting all of these in a basket so I can actually make something with them. Today’s image was one I had colored 4 of so I made 4 birthday cards (all alike) out of them.

Here’s how they turned out:

daisywateringcanadj

I am not even sure what company this stamp is from, I know the greeting is from Stampin’ Up! I used pinking edge circles from My Favorite Things stamp companyI layered the image over the blue pinked edge circles I had cut and layered them on yellow paper from my scrap box! The bow is tied with some blue embroidery floss! And the greeting is stamped in Sahara Sand ink. I colored the image in with some Prismacolor markers I have.

I was inspired to make the card look like this from this challenge:

As You See It ChallengeChallenge # 134

My circle is bigger and takes up more of my background but this is the sketch I used!

Other challenges I am linking up to are:

Try Stampin’ On TuesdayChallenge # 270

There is a sketch there with flowers on it but I went with the OPTIONAL THEME of May flowers!

I used my Big Shot to cut the pinked edge circle and the circle with the image in it!

Again, thank you for stopping by!! I love having you share your thoughts with me!!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

A Favorite Things Party

This year for my birthday I wanted to have a “Favorite Things” Party to celebrate!

I invited 16 people and 12 of them were able to come!

Here is what my invite said explaining how a Favorite Things party works:

Think of something that you LOVE and is your favorite (around $6.00 per item) Bring THREE of that item. We will draw names and everyone will go home with THREE new favorite things. And I will have celebrated my birthday with 16 of my FAVORITE people and learned more about them. What a gift to me!!

I also asked them to email or text me their favorite quote and to wear their favorite color on the day of the party!

When they arrived I had them come to this welcome station and write their name three times on yellow slips of paper for the drawing!

favthingsparty1adj

This station was decorated with my Funshine Care Bear given to me at Christmas time by my granddaughter who picked it out for me because I love “lellow”, paper daisies made by a good friend, and an adorable paper pieced sunshine in a frame made for me by my friend Cynthea! All of these represent some favorite things of mine!!

After they arrived and signed their slips I invited them to have a bite to eat from my Favorite Things dessert and refreshment table – some of the refreshments were the most delightful mini coconut creme pies, YUMMY chocolate cupcakes made for me by my friend Annette even though she could not attend the party – so grateful to her, some amazingly sweet mini chocolate chip cookies, a scrumptious fruit salad, veggies and dip, mini rolls, and candies that were yellow!

While they munched on their desserts I went around the room and told why each person was one of my favorite people!! When they were done we shared our favorite things and drew names and just really had a great time!!

Here is some of the decor from the party:

favthingsparty4adj

Does the choice of decor surprise you?!?? Nope, it shouldn’t – I still love daisies!!

At the end of the party I almost forgot to give them the favor bags I had prepared for them with a set of 4 cards I had made for each of them (they will feature in a post as soon as I can take pictures of them), a puzzle of rainbow colored cupcakes, Charleston Chew candy stick and some brightly colored pencils!! Here is how they looked all lined up on my fireplace –

And last but not least, I thought I would share my favorite quote with you – This is the kind of person I strive to be, and the reason why I create beautiful things to show people I care!!

daisybestquote3 (1)

So, there you go, my Favorite Things Party!! I really want to share some other things with you but I am having some stress because over the last few months my craft room has become the drop place for several things. My picture taking area is covered with things to sort and put away – but I am working on it and will share the cards I made for this favor soon!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day and that you find time to create something beautiful to show someone you care!!

I feel like I need to give some information to you!! This is really hard to share with you – but I am dealing with a serious bout of Depression – it has just been a struggle to do anything this last few weeks!! It has not been this bad for a long time! I WANT to be my cheerful, encouraging self but I just am really not able to find the strength and energy to do many of the things I love to do – crafting, blogging about it, and visiting your blogs and leaving the comments  that I normally do (to say nothing of laundry, keeping up the house, meals etc)!!! Please know that I will do the best I can and I will hope that is enough!!

It’s My BIG 5 – 0 !! (with a Giveaway)

** This Giveaway now closed**

I am so stoked and so super excited to be celebrating my big 5 – 0!! I am not talking about my birthday or my anniversary!  I am talking about my 50th Blog Post!! I have to say that I am truly proud to be reaching this point in my blogging experience.  Let me explain why – I tend to be a starter and then give up before I even reach mid way and definitely do not finish things! But with that negativity aside – I am so thrilled to be able to say that I haven’t given up and I keep on marching on!! And I have reached this point that  50 posts ago  seemed so unreachable and so not possible!!

I want to thank YOU – my readers and followers,  for your support and continued visits to my blog!! I love when you stop by and love it so much more when you leave me a comment!!  So to encourage lots of comments (hopefully 50 comments for my 50th post) I am hosting a giveaway complete with 2 different prizes that could be won!!

  • First prize is 50 yards of Ribbon and Trim (different types, different colors) Wouldn’t that be fun to play with?!?
  • Second Prize is  $25 gift card to a store of your choice!! (Only stipulation is that I must be able to obtain it in my area that I live in)

I will be keeping the giveaway open for 10 days – that means you have until June 14th, 2014 to comment and then I will announce the WINNER on June 15th, 2014!!!

Leave a comment about my blog, what you like, what your favorite post is – something like that!!! But if you need something more specific to comment on  – then check out this card I made and comment on that!!

A sweet daisy card made with a metal edged tag and some magic mesh!

Tole Painted Daisies Candle Box

Years ago a good friend of mine suggested we try tole painting.  The first project we did was a wood candle box – we used mine as a pencil/pen holder.  I was thrilled to discover that the first project had daisies simply because they are beautiful and make me happy.  I decided after all these years to take a photograph of it and share how I learned new painting skills while making something beautiful for my home!

When I learned to tole paint years ago guess what I wanted to paint first? Yep, you guessed it! Daisies
