Thoughts of You

Hello, friends!!!

I have a dear friend in my neighborhood who is having a struggle and she loves flowers so I made this card for her.

Thoughts of You card:

tulipthoughtsadj

I stamped a REALLY OLD (at least 10 years old) image from Stampin’ Up! coloring on it with marker using Forest Foliage and Eggplant Envy. I stamped this on vellum and then for a background I took a triangle makeup sponge, and using the square end I stamped Eggplant ink on white cardstock. I layered them together and punched two holes and tied some lovely white sheer ribbon – also retro SU! –  through and tied a bow!

I have written an upbeat, encouraging note inside and I am hoping it will brighten my friends day!!

I am hurrying to link this up to the following challenges:

Retro Rubber Challenge# 38 May Colors

#rrcb38

I was inspired by the colors in the tulips!! And the stamp set I used is over 10 years old!!

House of CardsMay Challenge: Clear Papers

VelllumAcetate

I used vellum as an overlay over my background!!

Thanks for looking and I hope you think of someone whose day you could brighten!!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

I made them using this cool Avery Elle Die

AEtreattopperdieadj

I used this paper to diecut the treat topper and a trim from the Fancy Frills sticker sheet that matches the Easter Parade Collection

bluewithbunnypaper

I used a 1″ strip of Pink Vellum (scraps) and layered the orange wavy trim on top – added a light purple flower brad!!

Then I put each person’s name on their treat topper with Teensy Type letter stickers – I used the Swimming Pool colored ones –

swimpoolteensytype

I love these letters because there are 3 different styles and sizes on one sheet – so cool!!

Then I used one staple and stapled the treat toppers onto bags of Easter candies!!

The link I provided you shows all the fun things this collection comes with!! Hope you will check it out – This collection is available right now! It comes all in one Essentials kit (see pic below)!

I used two colors of Doodlebug cardstock and layered one of the rectangles for this sheet:

Today I want to show you my finished Seasonally decorated table in my living room! But in order to do that I must show you the other project I finished for today!!

At an Expo in Salt Lake,  a couple of years ago,  my friend bought me this white holiday tree made by Doodlebug Design

whitedoodlebugtree

It is a pre-assembled wire based tree measuring 25-1/2 by 15 in with a sturdy wood base.  Here is a link to one on Amazon – Doodlebug Plain & Simple Holiday Tree

I wanted to decorate it for the Springtime so I took this flower kit from Doodlebug Design that is part of the Hello, Sunshine collection

doodlebugspringflowers

I took the sheets from the package and removed all the die cut flowers and circles – I then layered them together – some with other flowers or some with button centers or I also used some of the before mentioned Flower sprinkles to spruce these up!

flowers2sig

flowers1sig

This is what I ended up with –

flowersallsig

15 flowers that I had added yellow twine hangers to, making them into ornaments!

I then took some light orange ribbon and used it like a garland on the tree and then added the flower ornaments to my tree!!

I guess I should tell you that back in January I used a string of lights and wired them to the branches of my tree – so it does light up!!

Here is my finished tree:

closeupoftreesig

You will notice that I put something on the front square of the sturdy wood base!! What I did was this –

treebottomsig

Using the large scalloped circle sticker from the This & That Sticker sheet – I made this square to put on the front of the tree base!! I layered the sticker on the same blue cardstock and yellow patterned paper that I used on the banner and the clipboard!! And I used the before mentioned scallop border punch to enhance the yellow layer!!

This is just taped to the base in the corners so it can come off easily when I transition my tree in the Summer months!!!

And NOW for the BIG REVEAL –

My Springtime Table:

DAY 2 – Altered Clipboard Decoration

Please click on picture to have it made bigger – so you can see the details!!

dbclipboardsig

I used this adorable 5″ by 7″ clipboard from Pebbles, Inc:

pebblesincclipboard

that I decided to spruce up for a decoration!! I looked at this sheet of Doodlebug – Hello Sunshine! Designer Paper:

doodlebug-hello-sunshine-12x12-springtime

I knew that any of these 4 by 6 images would look cute on this clipboard. I chose the 2nd one down on the right side!! I cut it out and layered it on a piece of Blueberry Doodlebug cardstock that measured 4 1/2″ by 7 1/2″. I left it bigger on the top on purpose so that I could use this Scalloped edge punch from Stampin’ Up! to create the top border!

scallopedborderpunch

I adhered the 4 by 6 image I had chosen to the blue background. I added 2 stickers from the This n’ That sticker sheet to the bottom – one was the word beautiful and the second one was a tag that said sunshine!! I added a little piece of twine to the hole in the tag sticker!

Then I cut 7″ lengths of ribbons from my ribbon scrap jar in coordinating colors and tied them to the circle in the top metal part of the clipboard! I tied them with double knots and then trimmed them!! I had a small plastic easel and that is what my finished product rests on!! Please click on the pictures to make them bigger and easier to see the details!!!

Sounds like a lot of work but it really was pretty easy – the hardest part was choosing an image!!

There you go – I used Doodlebug products to make a Home Decor project!! Stay tuned for Day 3 where I will be adding one more thing made for my Holiday/Seasonal Decor table!! And I will post a picture of how it all looks together!!

springbanner1sig

Here are pictures of each letter:

To make this banner I started with the largest die in the SU! Banners Framelits set

I cut banners in both chipboard and various Doodlebug papers from this collection:

4689 hello sunshine paper pack

Using Mod Podge I adhered the printed papers to the chipboard by painting on a thin coat!

I used these two  Stampin’ UP! punches to make the accent letter circles – 2 3/8″ Scalloped, 2’Regular

scallopedcirclepunch

2inchcirclepunch

Using the word “spring” stickers from the icon sheet I added the letters!

Screenshot 2014-12-29 15.15.56

I added accents to each letter using the Sprinkles from this collection!!

4577springflowerssprinklesshapes

I punched 1/8″ holes on either side of each piece and then I used some ribbon to thread them together. Then I used buttons and stitched them on the ribbon in between the banners!

Cupcake Inspirations – Challenge 301

This is my second post today,  to see my first one – click here!

I am popping in again real quickly to share with you the second card I made yesterday!!

My inspiration for this card was this photo from Cupcake Inspirations!

CIC301

I used a Hero Arts set called – Cupcakes. I stamped a cupcake with Versamark Ink and then embossed it and the sentiment in gold.

I fussy cut the cupcake to which I added a clover from an SU! set called Every Little Bit- then I added with a glue pen some bright green glitter onto the clover!!!

What do you think??

greencupcakesig

I colored the cupcake in with 2 Prismacolor markers – Spruce and Spearmint!!

I think this will be perfect for a “lucky” friend next St. Patrick’s Day – I will give it with a cupcake!!!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

# 1 Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 301 – Lucky (based on pic above)

Alrighty – well, that is all for me today!!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that you find some time to create something Beautiful!!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

On this day a year ago , our family was traveling home from Arizona.  We had gone to help our oldest son, his wife, and their 3 girls move there.  I knew that we would need a little bright spot in the day – so while my husband took the kiddos swimming I broke out some clover garlands to wind around the hotel room and piles of green wrapped products to stuff  in each of their shoes.  I also included some gold chocolate coins and some gold dollars and a “lucky” 2 dollar bill.

I am glad I made the effort, as they returned I pretended to still be asleep in my bed, and acted just as surprised as they that someone had left them stuff!! I was very touched by this pic that was taken by my teenage son – he took great care to arrange his treasures so that his picture would look just right!!

20130317_105145

I share this photo with you and wish you all the luck in the world on this day of the Wearin’ O’ the Green!!

Happy St Patricks Day!!
