Welcome to DAY 5 of  The 12 Days of Doodlebug

I am so excited about this 12 day series that I am doing here on my blog – I LOVE DOODLEBUG and I have been a user and collector for the past 15 years!! Anything made by them delights and excites me – I love their bright, happy colors and incredibly cute icons and borders they make!! I thought doing this series would be a perfect way for me to lead up to and celebrate my birthday with you – There will be prizes – more on that at the end!!!

I am going to keep things really simple today since it is Easter weekend!

Today I made a page topper for a scrapbook page – I scrapbook in 8 1/2 by 11 so this will be a perfect top to my Easter scrapbook page!!

As always, please click on the picture to get a bigger, better view of this!!!

I am linking this cuteness up over at The Friday Mashup! – FM203 “Easter Critters”

I made this using the Super Cute and Fun Easter Parade collection from Doodlebug!!

The link I provided you shows all the fun things this collection comes with!! Hope you will check it out – This collection is available right now! It comes all in one Essentials kit (see pic below)!

I used two colors of Doodlebug cardstock and layered one of the rectangles for this sheet:

I used the stickers from this icon sheet – they are the same size as the ones in the rectangle – so I mounted them with double stick mounting squares and popped them up!

I enjoyed making this and look forward to using it on a future scrapbook page – I think it looks cute here and could go on a mantel as decor also!!! Just sayin’!! =]

As a bonus to this event – I am giving away Prizes/Gifts to Celebrate My BIRTHDAY!!!!!

The Prizes I will be giving away are pictured here –

Scrappy Blog Tour

Hello!  My scrappy friends, Shellye McDaniel  and Wendy Sue Anderson asked me to participate in a

Scrappy Blog tour and I was excited to play along!

As part of the tour I am going to share answers to a few questions.

What am I working on right now?

Actually my crafting has slowed down to a crawl or even a complete stop – my dad passed away recently and since then my heart has just been too heavy to craft.  But VERY soon, like after I get my package of Doodlebug products I ordered – I am going to dig out all the pictures of my dad and our family camping and use the Happy Camper collection to make layouts to honor him and his memory!

And I just got doilies in lovely Doodlebug colors that I would like to create some awesome things with!!

How long does it take me to create a project?

I am a quick layout maker – I feel like the page should tell a story and that it does not have to be a masterpiece.  I journal on every single page I create and I feel proud each time I get a photo out of a box and onto a layout in my kids books!!  As far as cards go – I like Clean and Simple.  Don’t want to spend more than a half hour or so on a card!! Sometimes a project will spark my interest and take an extra long time but usually I have to be quick since I have oodles of pictures to scrap and many upon many cards to send!!

What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?

I adore using anything from Doodlebug Design – they create the best products and I have a few ( kind of an understatement!) of them – Here is a picture of some of the items I have collected.

This happy yellow pegboard stands in my craft room - it holds all my themed Doodlebug Embellishments at the ready!!

I also have been trying so very hard to use all my NBUS – an acronym from Darnell over at djkardkreations meaning “Never Before Used Stuff” and boy. do I have lots of that.  I was a Stampin’Up! demonstrator for several years so I have lots of their stamps.  As I get my allowance each month I try to pick up some stamp sets from other companies!!

How does my creating process work?

For cards – it seems to be challenge driven lately or because I need a certain card for someone!

For layouts – it all starts with photos that need to be scrapped.  I am trying to keep it even and scrap something of each person and then start that cycle again!!  Sometimes I get really inspired with one child’s photos and really go to town!!

How do I become inspired and stay inspired?

By visiting the blogs of all the creative and crafty people I love out here in Blogland!  I visit my Pinterest boards often and try to regularly create something that came from my boards!

What is my signature style?

I wish I thought I had a style – the only thing that seems to be consistent with me is that I love bright colors and bold images and cute, whimsical icons! I don’t know any more to say about that!

So everybody that I could think of has already done some sort of this blog tour thing recently – so I think this might have to end here – But that is okay, right?! Because all good things must come to an end!

Thank you for sticking with me through this long post!! Love having you stop by and visit!! I’d love it if you left me a message!!

I really need to express my thanks for all the kind and sweet, and so sincere comments I received after I  posted about my dad!  I think in a way I am trying to get back into blogging because I have missed many of you so much!!!

Cutie Pie!!

So lately I have been thinking about all the pictures I still need to scrapbook!  I mentioned before that I am a backwards scrapbooker ( create the page- then add pictures) but sometimes like today I am inspired by something in a particular photo which helped me design a layout such as this:

Scrapbook layout made using icons from my daughters clothing for inspiration!!

This layout started with a desire to copy the 3 fruit squares on my daughter’s shirt and make a border with them!

A close-up of the shirt which inspired the fruit border for this layout!

And afterwards this is what I had –

Using stickers from Doodlebugs Fruit Stand collection I duplicated the 3 squares on my daughters shirt!

I am more than thrilled with how this turned out and 2 pictures out of years and years worth of pictures are done – only (what feels like) a million to go! So I used Doodlebug twine to frame each of the squares and I think it helped them be showcased.  Creating a scrapbook page to showcase my beautiful girl fits right in with my blog – dontcha think?!? I made a beautiful page to show my daughter how much I care!!

I think it was fun to create this layout and since it is connected with Food – I decided to take a chance and link it up to Paper Issues for their latest issue – Food for Thought.

Thanks for looking in on my blog and I would love if you left me some love so I know you were here!!

Hello Sunshine Layout

I wish you all could see me – I am doing a happy dance over the project I just completed!! While my family was playing a game I sat down with one of my very favorite Doodlebug Collections – Fruit Stand – I started playing with the paper and stickers and I came up with this:

Layout made using Doodlebug Designs Fruit Stand Collection from 2013

Layout made using Doodlebug Designs Fruit Stand Collection from 2013

I am so tickled about this because I have wanted to start creating scrapbook layouts again.  I really want to make a push to record my family’s history through scrapbooking.  Major goal for this summer!!! What better way to add beauty to my families life than by recording our memories in a beautiful way!!

You may have noticed that my layout has no pictures – well, that is because I am a backwards scrapbooker.  I like to create the layouts and then find pictures to put on it,  I am only behind by 15 or so years so pictures are EASY to find!!! I am excited to find a day of fun in the sun to add to this page.  What an easy day to find pictures of!!

Everything I used on the scrapbook page is from the Fruit Stand collection – with the exception  of the colored cardstock.  I am not sure brand, or color name since I pulled it from my stash that I have been constantly adding to over the years.

Thanks for looking and celebrating my “happy dance” moment with me – hopefully there will be many more to come!! This is the 49th post so stay tuned for the 50th one!! I hope you all realize the significance of 50 posts – for me it represents my picking something and sticking with it,  What fun I have had and I am looking forward to the next 50!  See you soon!!!
