A “Rainbow” bag

Just dashing in to share the “Rainbow” bag I created!!

My friend’s adorable little girl is having a birthday and she loves the My Little Pony called Rainbow Dash. I wanted the gift bag to match her present so this is what I made:

rainbowbagsig

I used the Rainbow Die from My Favorite Things and the cloud die from Paper Smooches!

Added a Sunshine using the Crayon Kids SU! stamp set!! And I have a Crayon alphabet set from them as well that I used to spell her name!!! I used a cloud stencil on the blue background but it was so subtle and I don;t think you can tell from the picture!!

I love making beautiful things for special people in my life – I hope she loves her present AND the bag!!!

Hope you find time to make something BEAUTIFUL today!!

Hugs to you all!!

Prize Packages

I wanted to share pictures of the way I continued on with my Doodlebug trend and “Cute”d up the prize packages I sent out to the winners!!!

I wrapped them in white paper – and then used doilies, icon stickers, border stickers and patterned paper banners from the Sugar Shoppe Collection  to add color and fun to them!!

I hope it gives you some ideas on how you could “CUTE” up a package!!!

Hope you are having an Amazing and Beautiful weekend!!!

P.S. More Doodlebug

I have been looking for a way to thank a couple of ladies for sharing dinner with my family when I had my surgery!! I got these two loaves of bread from the bakery and decided to “CUTE” them up!!!

breadcr

My Doodlebug stuff is still out all over my craft room so I took some pieces from the Bon Appetit collection and made a wrap for this bread!! I cut paper 3 1/2″ by 12″ – wrapped the bread with one and then taped with double stick tape!!

Added a diecut from the same collection that I wrote as much of a note on as I could – saying Thank you!! Wrapped twine around them and tied a bow!! Here’s how they looked –

breadwrapssig

I thought maybe they needed more color so I added a doily to each one –

doilybreadwrapssig

What do you think? Doily or no doily???  Here are 2 up closer pictures –

Thanks for stopping by – And bear with me – I might still Doodlebug it up since it is all over my table!!!

Love to see you and reading a comment from you makes my day!!!

YIPPEE – it’s Day 12 – April 12th MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

And to celebrate I am giving prizes to YOU – see the end of the post!!!

I honestly did not think this would go by so fast!! But oh, what fun I have had!!!

It has been a real treat for me to share some of the ways I use Doodlebug Design products!!

~For today I would like you to comment on your favorite thing was from these 12 days ~

What I made today is a gift ensemble for a very special friend!!! I made it using the following products from the Sugar Shoppe collection:

doodlebug-sugar-shoppe-12x12-dainty-doilies sugarshoppesprinkles sugarshoppethisnthat doodlebug-sugar-shoppe-icon-stickers-3.gif sugarshoppefancyfrills minibubblegumdoiliescupcakedoilies

I made a gift bag, covered a Ghirardelli Chocolate bar and made a tag for the bag!!

Here is the ensemble:

Remember to click on the pictures for a larger view!!!
sugarshoppetriosig

I will start with the chocolate bar!  This is the bar I created a cover for –

ghcandybar

Look at how it turned out:

ghcandybarcoveredsig

I used a piece of pattern paper that was 7 1/4″ by 8 1/2″ – Wrapped it around the candy bar and used doublestick tape to secure it! I cut another piece and made the banner that you see behind the doilies!!

I used the doilies like this on purpose so you could see the mini ones in comparison with the regular size ones that Doodlebug does!! A Happy thing is that both sizes come in all the Doodlebug colors!!!

The sticker is from the This n That sheet and I used 2 colors of twine to tie around it!!! In the center of the flower is a Sprinkle!!

Now for the Gift Bag

ssbagwtagsig ssbagcloseupsig

I took a 7 1/4 by 7 1/4 square of pattern paper and added 1″ strips at the top and the bottom – I had the orange velvet scallop trim in my scrap ribbon bucket and it matched so perfectly. Mounted that to the bag with foam dots – then added stickers to the side and a doily from the Dollar store in the middle and a regular doily from Doodlebug in the middle of that!! Then I added some stickers!! Maybe you can play I SPY to figure out which stickers I used from which sticker sheets!!! =]

AND I created a matching tag:

sugarshoppetagsig

As you can see I used some more of the orange velvet scallop trim on the tag – used a sticker and a scrap of the paper made into a banner and stapled on!! I used Doodlebug Rub-ons for the words and put them right onto the sticker!!

I am really pretty excited about this ensemble and I cannot wait to give it to my dear friend!! We are meeting for lunch in a few days!!

Ok – Prizes I am offering:

A Corner Chomper

Welcome to Day 11 of the 12 Days of Doodlebug

12daysofdoodlebugsig

I am so excited about this 12 day series that I am doing here on my blog – I LOVE DOODLEBUG and I have been a user and collector for the past 15 years!! Anything made by them delights and excites me – I love their bright, happy colors and incredibly cute icons and borders they make!! I thought doing this series would be a perfect way for me to lead up to and celebrate my birthday with you – There will be prizes – more on that at the end!!

For my project today I took some mini bags of Lindt chocolates that I found at Dollar Tree –

minichocolatebags

There are like 3 truffles inside the bag – light green one is from just the other day and the red one I found at Christmas time!!

I cut a banner for the front of each one – for the red I used Patriotic Parade paper ( an older Doodlebug collection but they have a new one called Patriotic Picnic available now!!)  For the green one I used Springtime collection from last year!!

I used a banner die from this set from SU!:

132173G

I used the third one in!! I also punched two times with this Bow punch from SU!

Bowpunch

Put the bows together using mini glue dots! And added a sticker and some twine –

decoratedchocolatebagssig

In both cases the opposite side of the pattern paper was a color with polka dots – so that is what I used for the bows. I used double stick tape to adhere the banner to the package!!!

Well, We are almost to the end – Tomorrow I will show you something made with the Sugar Shoppe collection – the collection that one of you can win!! Thanks for hanging out with me so much lately – I have truly enjoyed it!!!

Alrighty – I mentioned prizes – YEP I sure did!!!

For today I am going to share some Doodlebug Treat Pockets

dbtreatdiesig

This cute pocket/bag was made using this thinlets set from Stampin’ Up!

treatbagthinlets

All of those lovely pieces come in this set – amazing, huh?!!

I made 3 bags/pockets for this post and all of the papers sadly are from my stash and not available anywhere – that I could find when I searched.  But the closest thing I could come to (as a possible match) was the papers from the SUGAR SHOPPE collection that one of you will win some of!!!  Here are some pictures:

sugarshoppepapers

boutiquebrads

This collection is so cute and so very fun!! Yummy looking, too!!!

Here are two more bags/pockets I made –

dbtreatdie1sig

dbtreatdie2sig

In each case I cut 1  – 6 by 6″ square of cardstock for the big piece of the bag, and a 6″ by 3″ piece for the second part of the bag. Then I used the two biggest diecuts in the set to cut the parts out!!  I enjoyed learning how to make the bags by watching this video – on You Tube by Stampin’ Up!

For the bottom two bags – I cut about 1/2′ in to the bags sides so that I could fold down that front edge!! Gives it another fun look!! I used various pieces of the thinlets and a SU! banners set to cut out of scrap paper the pieces that I used to “cute” up my bags!!

For the top bag – I made it to hold a small birthday gift and wanted the card to be with it so I cut cards to match and using a tab punch I made this card that can slip inside too with your treat, gift or gift card!!

 notedbtreatdiesig

I added a brad and a Fancy Frill sticker to it to make it cute!! Now I can write  a note on this card and then slip it inside!!

Oh Boy, I feel like I have shown you SO MUCH today – I hope you enjoyed it!!!

I hope you are seeing what amazing things you can do with Doodlebug Products!!

I have several Doodlebug Pinterest Boards – you can check them out here – and YES, my boards are mostly in alphabetic order – so go down to the D section in my page of boards!!

It’s in the Bag!!

I love jazzing and “Cute”ing up ordinary things – I was looking through my birthday card box, seems I am getting low on cards!! But in my looking, I came across a stack of these white paper sacks that I had covered with paper, added a flap to close, and put this boy diecut on to cute it up! Loved the colors and the diecuts were cheap since I had bought a package of them at a warehouse sale! It caused me to grin from ear to ear because I had in my hand a way to remember a birthday beautifully!!

A view of the bag - this is how it looks when the flap is sealed down on the front!

A view of the bag – this is how it looks when the flap is sealed down on the front!

I started making these years ago but because of all the fussy cutting I put them in a project to-do pile.

Here is a view of all the fussy cutting I was talking about around the words!!

Here is a view of all the fussy cutting I was talking about around the words!!

Which of course got lost in all the disarray of my craft room.  So when I re-organized and revamped my craft room I stumbled across these and decided it was time they were finished.  When I was done doing all the cutting, then layering, and then cutting out again of all the words for the sentiment – I put them on the bag with pop dots!  I was thrilled because now I had 12 or more little bags to remember someone’s birthday with!! Guess what I discovered – a cupcake from my local cupcake store fit perfectly inside!  I am so excited to have this project done and have all these bags at my disposal.

Maybe you, like me, have an unfinished project somewhere that you could dig out and work on!! And bonus, maybe also like me, you find something you can use to add Beauty to someone else’s life.  So go ahead – find an unfinished project and give it a whirl – It just might add beauty to yours or someone else’s day!!

Grandparenting is Fun!!

Good Morning and Welcome to April!!

There’s no “fool”ing around on this blog, just ideas to inspire you to make beautiful things!!

So, I am the lucky grandparent (Nana) to 3 beautiful girls and a little boy. A year or so ago –  my son, his wife, and the 3 girls moved away from where we live to another state.  A couple months after they had moved, I planned a trip to spend time with them and spoil them and whatnot.

I knew that I wanted to make meaningful, beautiful memories with them so I carefully planned some activities to do and treats to have.  I started with a theme – crayons and colors.  I started by making a chart that had crayon stickers on popsicle sticks which the girls would pull out of the crayon box one at a time when it was activity time. We did them typically mid-morning, after nap, and after dinner.  Each color crayon corresponded to a color activity package to open.  The chart is pictured here:

Pick a crayon and open an activity package featuring that color!!

Pick a crayon and open an activity package featuring that color!!

And here are the color packages wrapped and ready to go:

Color packages - to be opened when the corresponding colored crayon is pulled from the crayon box chart. Also pictured is an ABC sticker book to be made with my girlies!!

Color packages – to be opened when the corresponding colored crayon is pulled from the crayon box chart.
Also pictured is an ABC sticker book to be made with my girlies!!

One of the funnest thing about these packages was coming up with colored treats to match!  Here is what I came up with :

Colored treats - to go in the coordinating color package to open.

Colored treats – to go in the coordinating color package to open.

In each package I tried to include something we could do together – a puzzle, a folder game, a sticker book, pictures to color, bubbles,a matching game, sorting games and so on.  Many ideas I adapted from ones I had seen on Pinterest and also I scoured the Dollar Tree and the Target Dollar Spot for fun items to put in the packages.

I am thrilled to say that the girls had fun with all that we did and I feel blessed that I was able to make beautiful memories with them.

I am off to visit them next week so I am coming up with a new theme, a chart, and matching treats and activities to do with them this time.  I hope that they feel special and realize how much their Nana cares for them.  I plan to do a post next week of whatever fun & beautiful times we have.

Happy Tuesday and Welcome to April!!

I am thankful for all of you and that’s no “fool”ing!!!
