The Crayon Box

Hello! I know it has been forever and a day since I posted on here but I had so much fun with this latest project that I just had to share!

I found these adorable ceramic crayons in the dollar section of Target! I fell in love with them right away and knew that I wanted to make a crayon box to hold them!

targetcrayonsadj

So I got out some chipboard and measured the crayons and starting cutting. The measurements I used are –

sides – 5 1/2″ by 1 3/8″

bottom – 8″ by 1 3/8″

front  – 8″ by 5 1/2″

back – 8″ by 5 1/2″

I used a product called Tear Mender to adhere the pieces to each other and after it had dried I used wide clear packing tape on all the edges.

Using an oval die cut as a guide I drew the semi circled line for the front of the crayon box.

crayonboxadj

Next I covered the box with BumbleBee Gingham/Linen paper from Doodlebug.

I used Darice’s wood glue, sponged it on with a foam brush and then smoothed the papers over the area of the box.

crayonboxwithpaperadj

Using washi tape from WRMK I added the green lines typically found on a crayon box.

crayonboxwithwashiadj

To make the label – I cut out an oval from black paper, stamped and embossed the word “crayons” and “6” using the fantastic Crayon Alphabet from Stampin’ Up! I then doodled some lines on there and wrote the word count under the number six!

crayonboxwithlabeladj

Now my box was ready to hold the crayons!!

Love Notes for Retreat # 2

Before I start this post – I have a confession to make:

I. CAN’T. DO. EVERYTHING.

I told myself I could BUT then found out I lied!!!

I am SO SORRY to have been lacking in the Commenting area – I know that I have not done well with that and have fallen GROSSLY behind!! I am OVERWHELMED and want to just start a fresh, clean slate!! I love all your blogs and love seeing what delights you dazzle us with and sharing with you what I enjoyed makes me happy so I  will try to be better!! Thank you for your understanding!!

On that note, let me add — I am blogging from bed today about my Retreat because I seem to have caught some kind of yucky flu bug!! Luckily pictures are all taken – and all I have to do is the actual post part!! Hope you enjoy Day # 3!

Today I want to share about the Love Notes Kit I made for each person! The idea was to encourage all my friends to notice nice things about each other and then tell them in a little note!

The Love Notes Kit looked like this:

And on the back – it had a description of what was in each kit:

And there was also a pen washi taped onto the back

lovenotebacksig

And I closed it on the front with a mini tag and a black clothespin that I added a twine bow and button to!

Here are the mint, toothpicks, and chocolate kiss – this is how I bagged them up

Also 3 by 3 inches this card features another die cut from the same Pebbles 12 by 12 paper! I had cut some pink cardstock for these cards and used some envelopes that I had! Sequins were added to dazzle it up a bit!!

Card # 3 All You Have to Do is Fly

butterflymcsig

I feel so repetitious because this card is ALSO 3 by 3 inches and made with a Pebbles Die cut – layered it on some pink scraps from my scrap box!! I think this 12 by 12 piece of paper that I cut everything from is amazing!! I will post a pic at the end of the post!

Card # 4 Sweet

sweetbuttonmcsig

Made from a premade tab note – 2 by 3 inch size! I added Gold paper and a wood button from American Crafts that said Sweet on it – I tied some really thin jute twine through the button holes and used a 1″ glue dot to secure it to the card!!

Here is the picture of the sheet of die cuts that I cut up and used from Pebbles, Inc.

12 by 12 paper by Pebbles, Inc - From Me to You from Sunny Side Collection as it appeared before I cut it apart.

Card # 2 “BEE”utiful card

beesmcsig

For this little cutie I used a 2 by 3 card with a matching envelope! A Bumblebee Doodlebug Mini Doily was glued down first, then I stamped images from Lawn Fawn’s Bee Mine stamp set on a white circle that was layered in the middle of the doily!! The beautiful word is from an older, name unknown SU! set! Colored the bee in and added a Wink of Stella to the wings!!

Card # 3 Hello, Friend

This is another 2 by 3 card – I trimmed a thin piece off the side with zigzag scissors and layered some scrap of blue behind it! Also layered a piece of yellow and stamped the -lightful sentiment in black on it and the hearts in Real Red!!  I used the following YNS products – Happy Meal and Fast Food Fun Sentiments  Stamp sets and the matching Happy Meal Die SetStamped the outline images and sentiment in Versafine – Onyx Black  inkpad and used Clear ultra fine embossing powder. Colored image in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and a Zig Detailer Watercolor brush!

Welcome Basket for Retreat

Hello There – I arrived home Saturday around noon from my Women’s Retreat!! I had a wonderful time, and as most of you know I share treats and notes with my fellow retreaters! This year I wanted to change things up a little bit and encourage note writing by everybody. More on that in a while!! But I put together a fun WELCOME basket for each lady!!

Here is my basket:

retreatwelcomebasket

What was included in their Blue welcome basket (from Dollar Tree) was the following things:

A Mailbox to receive Love Notes in

mailboxsig

Each person had a mailbox made from a gable box with their name on it! I cut a slit in the top part of the box with an exacto knife and a ruler! A couple of fun buttons and twine were added to jazz it up a little!!

A Love Notes Kit

lovenotekitfrsig

More information about this Love Notes kit will be in my next post!! But this is what they looked like from the front!

Tissues

tissuesig

The tissues were for when we had touching moments and there were lots of those!! The message on them was good for a chuckle from the ladies!!

A Scoop of Chocolate

chocolatescoopsig

And no activity involving women would be complete without CHOCOLATE!!! I had some plastic scoops from the Dollar Tree that I filled with Dove chocolates and Lindt truffles!

Water Bottle w/ drink mix and a straw

waterbottle1sigwaterbottle2sig

Attached to the water bottle was a drink mix packet (also from Dollar Tree) and a cute yellow straw from a Party Goods store! The patterned paper replaced the regular label and on it it says: H2O and juice to go, with a pretty straw to help it flow, to cure thirst, ya know!!!

We lined them up in the hall way on the main floor next to a big chest that was there! We put some of them on the chest as well!!

wallbasketschestofbaskets

When I say WE I mean myself, and two close friends! We arrived first and were able to set these up before the others got there!!

On the last night we took a picture of all of us – 1 Silly and 1 Regular

Here are the wonderful ladies I spent time with:

Can you guess which one is me?? Just look for the gal in yellow!!!

Doily Folder

Seriously, I am hurrying to make this post so that I can link this idea up!!

I took mini doilies and regular sized Doodlebug doilies and placed them on a manila file folder – arranging them and then securing them to the folder!! I laminated it and Voila –

doilyfoldersig

I now have a cute folder to hold papers in!!

This idea came about as I was trying to think up something original to do with the doilies!!!

Thanks for visiting!!!

Prize Packages

I wanted to share pictures of the way I continued on with my Doodlebug trend and “Cute”d up the prize packages I sent out to the winners!!!

I wrapped them in white paper – and then used doilies, icon stickers, border stickers and patterned paper banners from the Sugar Shoppe Collection  to add color and fun to them!!

I hope it gives you some ideas on how you could “CUTE” up a package!!!

Hope you are having an Amazing and Beautiful weekend!!!

P.S. More Doodlebug

I have been looking for a way to thank a couple of ladies for sharing dinner with my family when I had my surgery!! I got these two loaves of bread from the bakery and decided to “CUTE” them up!!!

breadcr

My Doodlebug stuff is still out all over my craft room so I took some pieces from the Bon Appetit collection and made a wrap for this bread!! I cut paper 3 1/2″ by 12″ – wrapped the bread with one and then taped with double stick tape!!

Added a diecut from the same collection that I wrote as much of a note on as I could – saying Thank you!! Wrapped twine around them and tied a bow!! Here’s how they looked –

breadwrapssig

I thought maybe they needed more color so I added a doily to each one –

doilybreadwrapssig

What do you think? Doily or no doily???  Here are 2 up closer pictures –

Thanks for stopping by – And bear with me – I might still Doodlebug it up since it is all over my table!!!

Love to see you and reading a comment from you makes my day!!!

12daysofdoodlebugsig

YIPPEE – it’s Day 12 – April 12th MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

And to celebrate I am giving prizes to YOU – see the end of the post!!!

I honestly did not think this would go by so fast!! But oh, what fun I have had!!!

It has been a real treat for me to share some of the ways I use Doodlebug Design products!!

~For today I would like you to comment on your favorite thing was from these 12 days ~

What I made today is a gift ensemble for a very special friend!!! I made it using the following products from the Sugar Shoppe collection:

doodlebug-sugar-shoppe-12x12-dainty-doilies sugarshoppesprinkles sugarshoppethisnthat doodlebug-sugar-shoppe-icon-stickers-3.gif sugarshoppefancyfrills minibubblegumdoiliescupcakedoilies

I made a gift bag, covered a Ghirardelli Chocolate bar and made a tag for the bag!!

Here is the ensemble:

Remember to click on the pictures for a larger view!!!
sugarshoppetriosig

I will start with the chocolate bar!  This is the bar I created a cover for –

ghcandybar

Look at how it turned out:

ghcandybarcoveredsig

I used a piece of pattern paper that was 7 1/4″ by 8 1/2″ – Wrapped it around the candy bar and used doublestick tape to secure it! I cut another piece and made the banner that you see behind the doilies!!

I used the doilies like this on purpose so you could see the mini ones in comparison with the regular size ones that Doodlebug does!! A Happy thing is that both sizes come in all the Doodlebug colors!!!

The sticker is from the This n That sheet and I used 2 colors of twine to tie around it!!! In the center of the flower is a Sprinkle!!

Now for the Gift Bag

ssbagwtagsig ssbagcloseupsig

I took a 7 1/4 by 7 1/4 square of pattern paper and added 1″ strips at the top and the bottom – I had the orange velvet scallop trim in my scrap ribbon bucket and it matched so perfectly. Mounted that to the bag with foam dots – then added stickers to the side and a doily from the Dollar store in the middle and a regular doily from Doodlebug in the middle of that!! Then I added some stickers!! Maybe you can play I SPY to figure out which stickers I used from which sticker sheets!!! =]

AND I created a matching tag:

sugarshoppetagsig

As you can see I used some more of the orange velvet scallop trim on the tag – used a sticker and a scrap of the paper made into a banner and stapled on!! I used Doodlebug Rub-ons for the words and put them right onto the sticker!!

I am really pretty excited about this ensemble and I cannot wait to give it to my dear friend!! We are meeting for lunch in a few days!!

Ok – Prizes I am offering:

Welcome to Day 11 of the 12 Days of Doodlebug

12daysofdoodlebugsig

I am so excited about this 12 day series that I am doing here on my blog – I LOVE DOODLEBUG and I have been a user and collector for the past 15 years!! Anything made by them delights and excites me – I love their bright, happy colors and incredibly cute icons and borders they make!! I thought doing this series would be a perfect way for me to lead up to and celebrate my birthday with you – There will be prizes – more on that at the end!!

For my project today I took some mini bags of Lindt chocolates that I found at Dollar Tree –

minichocolatebags

There are like 3 truffles inside the bag – light green one is from just the other day and the red one I found at Christmas time!!

I cut a banner for the front of each one – for the red I used Patriotic Parade paper ( an older Doodlebug collection but they have a new one called Patriotic Picnic available now!!)  For the green one I used Springtime collection from last year!!

I used a banner die from this set from SU!:

132173G

I used the third one in!! I also punched two times with this Bow punch from SU!

Bowpunch

Put the bows together using mini glue dots! And added a sticker and some twine –

decoratedchocolatebagssig

In both cases the opposite side of the pattern paper was a color with polka dots – so that is what I used for the bows. I used double stick tape to adhere the banner to the package!!!

Well, We are almost to the end – Tomorrow I will show you something made with the Sugar Shoppe collection – the collection that one of you can win!! Thanks for hanging out with me so much lately – I have truly enjoyed it!!!

Alrighty – I mentioned prizes – YEP I sure did!!!
