What holiday is most important to you & is there a tradition that helps you celebrate it?
For me it has to be CHRISTMAS – so many opportunities to make BEAUTIFUL things so I can show others that I care!! One of our traditions is to go and see “The Christmas Carol” at a local playhouse!! The man who plays Ebeneezer Scrooge is beyond Fantastic and I love it!!! We go to a showing of it on the last day they put it on which is usually on the 23rd of December – really sets the tone for the holiday for me!!!
You have until Friday, October 16th, 2015 at 10 pm (Mountain Standard Time) to leave me an answer to this question!!! I will let Random.org choose a winning comment and I will post the winner of this prize and the one I offered on Tuesday this Saturday, October 17th, 2015 by noon (MST)
Cannot wait to hear about your holidays and celebrations!!
I tried to put an image of the sketch but could not get it to load!! Sorry!! You can see it by clicking on #279 Sketch Challenge above!!! This sketch was what got the ball rolling for me on this card!!!
I ripped cardstock and sponged it with bordering blue ink to create my snowy background!! A scrap of patterned paper made my snowy sky and I added 4 snowflake brads from Making Memories! I used an old SU! Christmas set called A Merry Season! I watercolored by squoosing my inkpads so that ink got on the lid and then I used a wet paintbrush to pick up the ink!! The colors I used were all by Stampin’Up – Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Bordering Blue, and Pumpkin Pie. I also used my light gray colored zig real brush pen for the snowman! I had a lot of fun doing it this way!! I fussy cut him out and mounted him to the card with foam tape!
So, even though it may be boiling hot where you are – has been super hot here – come visit the Christmas card challenge that helps you get cards made all through the year!!
Well, before I have lots of friends over for a get together I wanted to make and post a couple of cards!!
Here is the first card –
To make this card I used a classic SU! set called Fantastic Foliage – it always makes me think of Autumn!! I tried to rock n roll the leaves – some turned out better than others!! I embossed the edges of my cardstock, the word grateful and the cute, little acorn up in the corner on that mini banner in gold!! Vellum scraps were used and I covered the glue on the vellum with the sequins!!!
This is the sketch that I followed for my card design!
And for the second card I made – A square Christmas card with 2 snowmen:
This card is 4″ by 4″ on kraft cardstock – I used an old SU! Christmas set to stamp the 2 snowmen! Embossed the greeting in white on a scrap of red vellum!! Tried to watercolor but I forgot to stamp the image on watercolor paper so it did not go so well!! Anyways – I think it turned out ok – what do you think?? Is it too early for these kind of cards??
Linking my Christmas creation up to the following:
I made my card with some designer paper from in my scraps – yes, I know I am using a lot of scraps lately!! But I have A LOT to use so that is good. I also used some shiny silver paper to diecut some snowflakes from Simon Says Stamp – they are the Eliza snowflake, the Kate snowflake and the MaryAnne snowflake and I also cut a strip of the shiny paper to put by the silver trim that I had in my stash along with the silver and white twine I used!! The joy stamp is from SU! – not sure of the name of the set!!
I am happy that this card also fits these challenges:
I had slightly different products such as sequins, pattern papers, and ribbon to work with but I think I did alright!
What do you think?? I would love for you to let me know!!
AND just when you thought the fun was over – Here is another card I made tonight:
This card was made using Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green (did not have Wild Wasabi) and Night of Navy SU! inks and a cute set called Little Pieces and a sentiment stamp that I have long since lost the packaging from but is from SU!
I would like to link this card up to this challenge:
