Blogging: what it is and what it is not {to me} – An Attitude Adjustment

This quote hit me hard today as I was perusing other blogs:

The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes.                                           -William James (1842-1920)

Found on Greta’s blog GG Creations as part of the header for her blog! Thanks, Greta for providing me with some needed inspiration!

What I realized I needed was an attitude adjustment – if a change of attitude can alter a person then surely it can alter me  in any area that is needed, such as blogging  – so I decided as part of my attitude altering to look at the answer to this question:

Why am I doing this – blogging?

The answer is because I Want To ADD BEAUTY To The World!!!

By sharing the things I create I hope to inspire others to create things that can add beauty wherever they are.

After much thinking and attitude adjusting I have broken down what Blogging is about and is not about TO ME – this is my blog and I am deciding to blog and connect with others the way I really want to!  This does not mean that the way someone else blogs is right or wrong – Just that for me I have figured out what is RIGHT for me, at this time!

Is About

creating beauty, sharing beauty,

sending Happy Mail to everyone I can (including You – my readers),

meeting more people to share beauty with,

and making more friends that enrich and improve my life!

Is Not About  – the numbers, as in, # of comments I get, the total number of  page views I get in a day!!  Don’t want to determine my success or my identity by #s from my blog – Instead (Attitude Alter)  I do want for people to be moved to action by the ideas I share and my promptings to them to do a little something today to add beauty to the life of someone. That is what success will look like for me – but the tricky thing is I most likely will not know when this happens, and I have decided that is ok!!

Is Not About  – how often I do it! I am going to shoot for 3 times a week and sometimes it might be more often and other times it could be less. (Attitude Alter) But I am going to have a goal of three times a week! But guess what, I might not be perfect at that but I m committed to giving it a try.

Is Not About – whether I do challenges or not! I create beauty in many ways – love notes, gift wrapping, treat notes, and just the little things I do to say You are Special to me – they are not always  cards so my posts cannot always be about cards and challenges,  though  (Attitude Alter) I have decided for me that  half and half would be a good balance.

So now with my newly altered attitudes I hope to find peace and enjoyment from blogging – and I do SO look forward to getting to know as many of you as I can ! Look for my posts to resume early next week!

I mentioned above a thing I want to do called Happy Mail – I created a new page all about it – check it out here!! Would love for you to be my most recent follower and Happy Mail recipient!!

I must say a Thank You to some fantastic blogger friends who gave me encouragement, advice and just uplifted me!  They are :

Love and thanks to all these ladies – They are each amazing!! Why not take a little look at their blogs if you haven’t had that treat already!!

Wow – you have done some serious soul searching! Kudos to you, Taunya! So proud of you, and happy for you. I do this hobby because I love what I do. Aside from a very few actual responsibilities, I post when and what I want, and I love creating – that’s what it’s all about. I also love making new friends – like you! When we travel, I try to always find someone to meet with, and sometimes we even get creative! I’m happy that you are going to continue blogging. Never worry about how many times a week you post. One of my very dear blogging friends posts only once each week, and it’s so much fun waiting for that next post. I hope things work out for you! We love having you here, and look forward to seeing your beautiful creations! Now….I’m off to read about Happy Mail! Hugs…

Guess what? I know exactly what it feels like to be a lottery winner! Why – because that’s precisely how wonderful, special, fortunate and valued your flurry of comments on my blog over the past couple of days have made me feel! The time, thoughtfulness and warm-heartedness and eloquence are treasured more than I have words to express! Your goal to “ADD BEAUTY To The World” is already a resounding success, by virtue of your visits to my site, and those of others. I’m so thrilled that you find sprinkles of inspiration or sparklets of creativity in my ‘space’ – be that the cards or the posts. Your responses are, in a word, beautiful! Thank you!! As for your post here – if you tilt your head west and north, you’ll hear raucous happy-dancing, wild cheering and thunderous applauding! I’m thrilled you’ve decided to continue to blog; I especially admire – and plan to reflect more deeply on – your reasons for doing so. “Attitude Alter’ – you’ve coined a most excellent phrase that speaks volumes about what I need to do when doubts, questions, ‘misdirections’ come my way. A shift in perspective, a new lens to look through, a different stance…an ‘attitude alter’ that can have profound impact in guiding decisions. Fabulous! Your discovery about what blogging is not about, and what it IS about, reveals both the depth and breadth of your process of arriving at a place where you know precisely why you’re doing what you’re doing! Given your purpose and intents, you’re guaranteed to find peace and enjoyment! I’m in awe at how well you’ve shared your ‘Eureka’ about blogging…and now you’ve inspired me to contemplate my own ‘motivations.’ This I know: it’s through blogging that I’ve had opportunity to meet some of the most amazing people – and you, dear Taunya, are at the top of that list! Blessing, gift, treasure….you’re all of those, and more!! Mega hugs – and another bout of enthusiastic hoopla that you’ll be ‘around.’! Hugs and more hugs…off to read about Happy Mail!!

Love it! Love that you have gotten a peace/balance about things….it’s funny because I think as bloggers/crafters we end up having to readjust every so often….it’s easy to slip back into the old ‘what is blogging not about’ ways from time to time, but you’ve got your feet on firm ground and I’m glad to see you enjoying it!
