Back to School Dinner with Favors

Alrighty, then!! I promised to share about our Back to School Dinner tradition – so here goes, hold onto your seats, cuz it is a long post with details and pics of all 8 favors I created for them with a piece of advice on each one!!

I thought I would show you first the table and the way I set it up and what I used!  Here is the first pic of the table –

And here is another pic with details about the cups and placemats – I made the placecards using scraps of penmanship designer paper and adding a crayon sticker that matched the cup color!!

The menu for this evening was build your own french bread pizzas – a particular favorite around here!! Then I also made a fruit salad to serve with it.  That is what the clear, plastic cups are for there in the center of the table!

So, let’s talk about the bags at the end of the table – they are just plain white bakers bags each with a library pocket from my banner clipped to the front of them!  Each card within the pockets has a piece of advice that starts with that letter.  The first pocket is hooked onto two bags and there are 2 cards of advice – Back and 2. Then it goes S,C,H,O,O,L!! Here is a close up picture of the bags –

Favor bags - each one has a piece of advice with a favor for my three children! Notice I clipped to the bags the library envelopes from my countdown banner with Clothespins! Each piece of advice starts with the letter on the bag!!

After our yummy dinner had been consumed by all of us – I proceeded to give the kiddos advice by pulling a card out and reading them the advice and then opening the bag and giving them the favor that went with that item!! Lots of my advice is “corny” to match the items I gave them – you’ll see what I mean!!

So card # 1 was Back – here is the favor and advice on the tag

They love this tradition and always look forward to seeing what kind of favors I will come up with!! Thanks for stopping by – I hope you enjoyed this rather long post – I appreciate you spending the time to see what it was all about!! You are the best!! Have a beautiful day!!

I still remember the Crayola Breakfast you did for us on the first-day of my sixth grade year! It was so spectacular! I’ve since then always wanted to do that for my kids! (Now a dinner too!) You’re my hero! So awesome and inspiring!

Oh my goodness: you have given them the best advice EVER! And have done so in a fun, friendly fashion that will stick with them throughout the year! Brilliant and soooo touching! How lucky your kiddos are to have you to encourage, support, guide and love them to bits and pieces! From the gift packages, to the advice to that yummy dinner: what EXCELL-ent back-to-school memories you’re creating! Summer may be done for the little ones, but they won’t notice because you’ve made the transition back so supremely engaging! Way to embrace ‘education’ – and the kids, because of you, will LOVE learning!! WOW!!
Hugs galore; hope your Thursday is spectacular! ~c
