New Tag You’re…It! mini challenge

While cruising around the web I came across this fun new challenge blog  Tag You’re… It! and I thought of a very recently done project for my craft room and decided to give it a chance – It is a repurposed Pokemon card tin that now holds a mini pair of scissors and is full of Doodlebug Design’s packaged ribbons.  I covered it with Doodlebug papers and using some mini tags spelled out the word ribbons on the front of it!  Here is how it turned out:

A tin that was repurposed to be used as a holder for my Doodlebug Design brand ribbon packages!

This is the project that I am linking up to Tag You’re…It’s mini challenge!!

I was super pleased when I figured out that a Pokemon card tin (which there are oodles of around our house)  fit perfectly into one of the cubbies of this shelf!  Perfect fit!

This is the 4 cubby shelf that I put 2 of my repurposed tins in to hold favorite products!

You will notice another tin that I repurposed as well – also using tags.  I love repurposing things and making something useful and beautiful out of them.  If you ask me I think it adds a certain amount of beauty to my little shelf!

Thanks so much for popping in!! Please leave me a message cuz they really make me smile!!

Retreat Notes

Last year in July I made a post about a crafting retreat that I try to go on every summer. Read more about that here. While you are at that post, read about the love notes I leave for my family while I am gone and in general about my love for making what I call “treat notes”.

In this post I would love to share with you the 4 treat notes I made for all my sweet friends who were at the retreat with me.  At a certain time during each day of the retreat I would come out of my room with a basket carrying notes – one for each person with their names on it and everything!! It was a little way for me to share how glad I was to be there with them and share their friendship!! I just wanted to make beautiful things for them to remind them daily that I care about them!!

Day 1 – Diecut purse out of strawberry design patterned paper and put inside it – YUMMY Godiva Strawberry Cheesecake truffles. (Chocolate is always a good idea, right?!?)

"Purse"onally I am so "berry" glad that you are here!!

Day 2 – A Brightly colored and decorated sour cream pouch filled with a baggie of skittles!! Read more about the sour cream pouch here.

Have a "rainbow" of Fun!

Day 3 – Flat brown bag “cute”d up with a doily and a paper bow diecut! I discovered two Ghirardelli squares fit perfectly inside!  So, of course that is what I added to the cute bags!!

This brown bag with cute paper bow and doily says on the back - It is such a "treat" to have you here!

Day 4 – Cherry Laffy Taffy’s with a cute stamped tag to match.

note says - A "cheery" thanks for all the "Laffs"!!

I am very pleased to say that my friends  really appreciated the effort I put into sharing a little beauty with them.  We are having our next retreat at the end of July so I am working my brain, trying to come up with new, cute ideas for this year!  New ideas for my family’s treat notes and for my friends at the retreat!!  I will be sure to post them, but not until after the fact, since I think they should see them first.  I don’t want to spoil their surprise!!

Maybe you could whip up a “treat” note for someone who needs some beauty in their life!!

Thanks so much for stopping by – please leave a note letting me know you were here!!

Using the Watercolor Garden stamp set from SU! this floral card was created!

It was made with lots of love for a very special friend!! Love the way it came together and the way the colors work with each other!  All items used for the card are from Stampin’ Up! – mostly older products and colors like Lovely Lilac, Only Orange, Pink Passion and Green Galore.  But these are all items I still have in my craft room – and SU’s Watercolor Garden has long been a favorite of mine, retired or not!!

Thanks for stopping by – I would love to hear from you!!

CAS(E) this Sketch #80 – My First Try

I am very excited – I am playing at CAS(E) this Sketch #80 today!  Here is the sketch that I am playing off of:

CTS_Sketch_80

I made two versions of my card the first one has washi tape added but the picture isn’t very clear  –

This one with the washi tape!

So I tried a picture without the washi tape and liked it much better.  So below  is the one I will be linking up at CAS(E) this Sketch for this time # 80.

I wanted to add that all components of this card are from Doodlebug Design company. All but the pearls are from the Sugar Shoppe collection and the pearls are from a Spring assortment!

Thank you so much for looking and I would love any comments of encouragement you can give me!!

Cutie Pie!!

So lately I have been thinking about all the pictures I still need to scrapbook!  I mentioned before that I am a backwards scrapbooker ( create the page- then add pictures) but sometimes like today I am inspired by something in a particular photo which helped me design a layout such as this:

Scrapbook layout made using icons from my daughters clothing for inspiration!!

This layout started with a desire to copy the 3 fruit squares on my daughter’s shirt and make a border with them!

A close-up of the shirt which inspired the fruit border for this layout!

And afterwards this is what I had –

Using stickers from Doodlebugs Fruit Stand collection I duplicated the 3 squares on my daughters shirt!

I am more than thrilled with how this turned out and 2 pictures out of years and years worth of pictures are done – only (what feels like) a million to go! So I used Doodlebug twine to frame each of the squares and I think it helped them be showcased.  Creating a scrapbook page to showcase my beautiful girl fits right in with my blog – dontcha think?!? I made a beautiful page to show my daughter how much I care!!

I think it was fun to create this layout and since it is connected with Food – I decided to take a chance and link it up to Paper Issues for their latest issue – Food for Thought.

Thanks for looking in on my blog and I would love if you left me some love so I know you were here!!

Using Stamps in Different Ways

Today I am sharing an idea about looking at your rubber stamps differently and finding other options for them.  The stamp set I am using is an old retired SU! stamp set called Perfect Party. The stamps in the set include a sugar cone, a scoop of ice cream, a present bow, a square present, the word celebrate and a couple others.  The interesting thing is what I did with that sugar cone and scoop of ice cream!  Are you ready to see? Here it is:

This card is cool because it offers a different opening method. The word Celebrate is stamped on a folded piece of cardstock which has been glued onto the card front - Your message gets written inside there!

Yes, I did turn them upside down and make a bear wearing a party hat – then used the bow to create a clown looking collar.  This was SO fun to make – this whole stamp set is super fun to play with!! In the caption under the photo it talks about the mini card that I added to the card front. Another cool idea?!?  The face on the bears is from another set from SU! called Fun Faces (of course, it is old and retired too).  I think sometimes it is fun to come up with different ways to use stamp images!!

Thank you so much for looking!! Hope you will make something beautiful soon so you can show someone you care!!

Posies Card

Wanted to share with you today a card I made several years ago.  I decided to pull it out and make several more so that I would have them on hand for when I wanted to send a floral birthday card!! Here is the card:

A favorite card of mine - made using older Posy sets from Stampin Up!

A favorite card of mine – made using older Posy sets from Stampin Up!

This card was made using some long retired SU! stamp sets such as Posy n’ Bee and Petite Posies!  The only part used from Posy n’ Bee was the two step part used to make the bee! Petite Posies were so fun to just randomly stamp on the card front in bright colors.  I used – Pink Passion, Ballet Blue, Green Galore, YoYo Yellow and Basic Black SU! inks. A pencil eraser was used to stamp the yellow inside the flowers.  My very favorite thing about this card was using a black pen to draw a buzz trail for each of the bees.  Another favorite thing about this card is the fun randomly stamped envelope and card insert!  I think it just makes  an ensemble when the envelope matches!

All in all, this was a fun card to mass produce – lots of stamping. But I just cranked the tunes and sang along as I stamped.   Is there an oldie but a goodie that you might want to make again?  Think about it and maybe you do!?!?

Thanks for letting me share this with you!! And hope you had fun stopping by!

Primary Colors Birthday Card

One day I was getting ready for a card exchange with friends and I was trying to come up with something to share!! I had been thinking that I wanted to make something Primary colored and masculine! I found the message stamp from an SU! stamp set called Alphabet Soup that I decided to use – the next step was how to stamp it.  I decided to use markers and color on the stamp to make this greeting primary colored as well.  From there I decided to go with a color box approach for a background.  I looked for scraps in the colors I wanted and cut them in the sizes that I thought looked the best and they were the following:

  • Yellow – piece #1: 1 1/4″ by 4″, piece # 2: 1″ by 1 1/2″
  • Red –  2 5/8″ by 1 1/2″
  • Blue – piece #1: 1 1/4″ by 1 1/4″, piece # 2: 2 5/8″ by 1 3/8″
  • Green – 3″ by 1″

The white piece for the message measures 2″ by 2 1/4″.  The black layer behind the message is 2 1/4″ by 2 1/2″.

Now that all those measurements are floating around in your brain, let’s have a look at the card:

With scraps from a few basic colors I was able to put together this more masculine looking birthday card!

With scraps from a few basic colors I was able to put together this more masculine looking birthday card!

On each scrap was stamped something from an SU! stamp set called Little Things.  I used Versamark inkpad to get the tone on tone look! Adding 3 brads to the corner yellow piece pulled the colors throughout the card and gave it harmony. This card took a while but we mass produced it so each of the friends went home with 5 of this card, and whenever I pulled out this card to mail it I was grateful to have them done ahead of time!!

Thanks for looking today, I am so glad you stopped by!!
