Grandparenting is Fun!!

Good Morning and Welcome to April!!

There’s no “fool”ing around on this blog, just ideas to inspire you to make beautiful things!!

So, I am the lucky grandparent (Nana) to 3 beautiful girls and a little boy. A year or so ago –  my son, his wife, and the 3 girls moved away from where we live to another state.  A couple months after they had moved, I planned a trip to spend time with them and spoil them and whatnot.

I knew that I wanted to make meaningful, beautiful memories with them so I carefully planned some activities to do and treats to have.  I started with a theme – crayons and colors.  I started by making a chart that had crayon stickers on popsicle sticks which the girls would pull out of the crayon box one at a time when it was activity time. We did them typically mid-morning, after nap, and after dinner.  Each color crayon corresponded to a color activity package to open.  The chart is pictured here:

And here are the color packages wrapped and ready to go:

Color packages - to be opened when the corresponding colored crayon is pulled from the crayon box chart. Also pictured is an ABC sticker book to be made with my girlies!!

One of the funnest thing about these packages was coming up with colored treats to match!  Here is what I came up with :

Colored treats - to go in the coordinating color package to open.

In each package I tried to include something we could do together – a puzzle, a folder game, a sticker book, pictures to color, bubbles,a matching game, sorting games and so on.  Many ideas I adapted from ones I had seen on Pinterest and also I scoured the Dollar Tree and the Target Dollar Spot for fun items to put in the packages.

I am thrilled to say that the girls had fun with all that we did and I feel blessed that I was able to make beautiful memories with them.

I am off to visit them next week so I am coming up with a new theme, a chart, and matching treats and activities to do with them this time.  I hope that they feel special and realize how much their Nana cares for them.  I plan to do a post next week of whatever fun & beautiful times we have.

Happy Tuesday and Welcome to April!!

I am thankful for all of you and that’s no “fool”ing!!!

My youngest granddaughter Hannah (just turned 3) and her sister, Elise (a little over 4) are coming to visit me from Calgary, Canada this July. So thanks for the ideas, they love to do projects. When I went to get my mail today I had a package from UT – at first I couldn’t figure it out, then I remembered I had subscribed to your blog and you were sending a thank you gift – So cute and loved the candy too. Very sweet of you to welcome new “friends” to your blog. Looking forward to more of your posts.
