Teacher Appreciation Doors

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up — May 5th through the 9th! I thought I would share a bunch of Doors I decorated during a Teacher Appreciation Week a few years ago.  I did the door for my daughter’s Kindergarten teacher and then I made posters for the many other people who help out at the school.  This was the tradition at my children’s school that every teacher and worker at the school be recognized during Teacher Appreciation Week.

For my daughter’s Kindergarten teacher I went with an artist theme – using a palette and a paintbrush.  Here is how it looked –

Mrs Belliston has "painted" a love of learning in us!! She is the "Artist" -- we are her "Masterpieces"!

Mrs Belliston has “painted” a love of learning in us!! She is the “Artist” — we are her “Masterpieces”!

I wrote punny sayings on each color – here is what they said –

  • Purple – She adds “color” to our life in every way!
  • Orange – “Orange” you glad she loves all of us!
  • Yellow – Her smile is as bright as yellow Sunshine!
  • Blue – We’d be so “blue” without her!
  • Red – She is always “red”dy to teach us!
  • Green – Other school’s are “green” with envy that she’s our teacher!!
  • Pink –  We are tickled “pink” that she is our teacher!

I was really very excited that it turned out so well.  All of the components were drawn and cut out of colored butcher paper.

So next I did a poster for the teacher’s aide:

We are so "Grape"ful for Mrs Downs!!

For the Principal of the School, I put this on his door –

We appreciate you!! Mr Carter is just our "Tie"pe!!!

For the lovely ladies that work in the school office — this went on their counter:

We're so glad we "picked" these Secra"cherries" for our school!! Without them our school would be the "Pits"!

Our Librarian’s door I decorated with a kite –

Mrs. Mauerman our librarian) helps our love of reading "Soar"!!

We could not leave out the 5 wonderful women who worked in our lunchroom. Here is their poster –

No "Beans" about it - our Lunch Ladies are the Best!!

And last but not least some other helpers at the school – Speech Therapist, Psychologist, and School Nurse:

These helpers are so "Bloomin" Great!!

I enjoyed this opportunity to create beautiful posters to show my daughter’s teacher and other helpers at her school how much we care and appreciate the hard work they do every day in behalf of the children of our school.  I hope maybe this will inspire you in some way  if you are responsible for this kind of project at the school in your neighborhood.

And Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all you amazing teachers out there!!!

Fun with the Granddaughters

I have been Missing in Action here on my blog and the reason why is because I spent several days with my three beautiful granddaughters.  I was babysitting them and we were having as much fun as we could.  I really did try to make life beautiful for them and me.  We painted…

We enjoyed an afternoon of painting!!

And we played Play-Doh…

We drew pictures with sidewalk chalk…

We made lots and lots of rainbows with chalk!!

Then we put together lots of puzzles…

This is only one of about 10 different puzzles we did together!

And last but certainly not least we painted Rainbows on our fingernails and toenails…

We painted the colors of the rainbow on their fingers and their toes!

We had lots of fun together and made many beautiful memories, in the next little while I want to make mini albums for each of them of all the fun we had together.   But now you know why I have been missing from my blog – I haven’t had time with all this fun I was busy having!! I am very grateful for the time I had with them so we could create beautiful memories.

Hope you have a Beautiful day!!

Grandparenting is Fun!!

Good Morning and Welcome to April!!

There’s no “fool”ing around on this blog, just ideas to inspire you to make beautiful things!!

So, I am the lucky grandparent (Nana) to 3 beautiful girls and a little boy. A year or so ago –  my son, his wife, and the 3 girls moved away from where we live to another state.  A couple months after they had moved, I planned a trip to spend time with them and spoil them and whatnot.

I knew that I wanted to make meaningful, beautiful memories with them so I carefully planned some activities to do and treats to have.  I started with a theme – crayons and colors.  I started by making a chart that had crayon stickers on popsicle sticks which the girls would pull out of the crayon box one at a time when it was activity time. We did them typically mid-morning, after nap, and after dinner.  Each color crayon corresponded to a color activity package to open.  The chart is pictured here:

And here are the color packages wrapped and ready to go:

Color packages - to be opened when the corresponding colored crayon is pulled from the crayon box chart. Also pictured is an ABC sticker book to be made with my girlies!!

One of the funnest thing about these packages was coming up with colored treats to match!  Here is what I came up with :

Colored treats - to go in the coordinating color package to open.

In each package I tried to include something we could do together – a puzzle, a folder game, a sticker book, pictures to color, bubbles,a matching game, sorting games and so on.  Many ideas I adapted from ones I had seen on Pinterest and also I scoured the Dollar Tree and the Target Dollar Spot for fun items to put in the packages.

I am thrilled to say that the girls had fun with all that we did and I feel blessed that I was able to make beautiful memories with them.

I am off to visit them next week so I am coming up with a new theme, a chart, and matching treats and activities to do with them this time.  I hope that they feel special and realize how much their Nana cares for them.  I plan to do a post next week of whatever fun & beautiful times we have.

Happy Tuesday and Welcome to April!!

I am thankful for all of you and that’s no “fool”ing!!!
