How Doodlebug “Colors” my Life!!

If you have been reading my blog for very long then you have learned that I have a deep and abiding Like/Love/Obsession of all things made by  Doodlebug Design Inc.

They are by far my favorite papercrafting company!! Their colors are bright and crisp and coordinate so well with one another. They choose the cutest themes and collections filled with delightful icons and motifs!! I am proud to say that I have been a fan of their products since back in the late ’90s.

With that said – I thought my love for all things Doodlebug needed to be recorded, so I created this 2 page spread in the 8 by 8 format! Starting with a colorful, glittery title – then moving on to 6 banners of colored paper and then adding a few pictures of things I have “cute”d up with Doodlebug products – boxes, notebooks, tins, etc!! I tried to add some flair to each banner either with twine or a paper frill or sticker or something!! I like how it turned out so much that I am going to frame it and display it in my craft space!!

I love how color & cuteness are added to anything I make with Doodlebug!

Thanks so much for the visit and for humouring me while I went on and on about something that adds beauty to my life!! I think I love their products so much because they help me to make beautiful things for others just to show them I care!! Leave me a message about what your favorite proucts are – I would love to hear what you use to create beautiful things with!! Have a beautiful day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

On this day a year ago , our family was traveling home from Arizona.  We had gone to help our oldest son, his wife, and their 3 girls move there.  I knew that we would need a little bright spot in the day – so while my husband took the kiddos swimming I broke out some clover garlands to wind around the hotel room and piles of green wrapped products to stuff  in each of their shoes.  I also included some gold chocolate coins and some gold dollars and a “lucky” 2 dollar bill.

I am glad I made the effort, as they returned I pretended to still be asleep in my bed, and acted just as surprised as they that someone had left them stuff!! I was very touched by this pic that was taken by my teenage son – he took great care to arrange his treasures so that his picture would look just right!!

Liebster Award – Paying it Forward

I am so excited – this morning I received an email from a new blogging friend Penny who nominated me for this Blog award!

I am surprised and SO grateful for this recognition!!  Thank you so much! Yahoo, Me!!!

LeibsterThis award is all about getting to know new crafty friends, perusing their blogs for new ideas and inspiration to help kick your mojo into high gear!

Part of the process is for me to answer a few questions about myself, then to select a few blogs I visit and nominate them (thus, paying it forward).

Here are some details about daisiesgirl:

Tell me your favorite three supplies you use most?My Texture Boutique embossing machine, Stampin’ UP inks, and foam mounting dots (I like dimension)

How long have you been making cards?Well I started in a serious way about 1997 so 16 plus years.

What do you do with all the cards you make? Well, I make a lot but I also send a lot. I try to send at least one every day.  Somedays I miss but then when I do send some it is usually at least 5 or more. Once I start writing them, I think of others who need a note, and I just keep adding to my list, and end up sending out a stack!

What is your favorite technique to use when making cards? Using embossing folders to create an embossed front to my card

What are your favorite color combo’s to use? Primary colors – but mostly anything with Yellow

How long and what inspired you to start blogging? I started in Oct 2012 and I started because I thought it would be a fun way to share things that I made to add cuteness and beauty to the world.  I continued and gained momentum with the discovery that I really want to inspire others and myself to make beautiful things to show others we care!!

How does your family handle your craftiness? Do they approve? Well most of my children give the obligatory – “oh, that’s cute, Mom”. The daughter who shares her room with my craft space tends to be a little unsure of how she feels since she is a teen sharing with her mom. :) And my wonderful, supportive husband tells me to go for it!!

I would like to nominate some very special blogs/bloggers/friends for this award also:
Nominees: Should you choose to accept this award, please answer the same questions as above. Just copy and paste into your post and type over my answers.

This award is about Paying it Forward to bloggers with a following of less than 500. It’s a great way to thank those that came before you and help others attain more crafty friends/followers.
To learn about how you accept the award and pass it on click here.
Again, Penny, thank you and to all my nominees, Congratulations & I will see you soon!!

Finished Craft Room & a Giveaway to Celebrate

*** This Giveaway is now closed ***

I am so excited about finally getting my craft space in order.  We had chaos for 4 to 6 weeks as everything from the craft room was taken out, gone through and purged!! Unfortunately the living room suffered the most as all the stuff went there to wait until I figured out where I wanted everything to go back!! I took a class from Wendy Smedley and Aly Dosdall of Big Picture classes.  The class was called Organizing “Fun”damentals!! I have to admit that most of the process was fun!! I am so grateful to these two ladies and all the gals that supported each other in the gallery and on the message board.

So, are we ready to see the finished result?!?  This first pic is looking into my space from the small entryway.  My space is only about 6 ft by 11 ft!  I share half of a room with my daughter and we have put up two cupboards and a bookshelf to create a dividing wall from her space and mine!!

Here is where I create and make Beautiful Things to show others I care!!

This second picture is looking opposite this wall and my desk/work space.  I was able to purchase a 4 by 2 Expedit unit and for Christmas I had requested the 12 by 12 paper storage containers (all from Cropper Hopper) so this area came together very nicely and I finally have order and organization to all my paper!!

My new Expedit shelves, file cabinet, and Clip-It-Up!!

My favorite thing in this area of my space is my Colored Embellishment drawers – you can see them in the 5th square there!! Here is an up close photo:

This was so fun for me to organize! The two containers with scalloped circles are smaller bits.  The tiny one is glitter, and the bigger one is eyelets and etc that were just too small.  For each basket I weaved ribbon of that color into the slits in the baskets.  The baskets were all from the dollar store and that I had around.

I am really so very excited about this accomplishment.  Now I have a beautiful place to make beautiful things for others just to show them I care!!  And to celebrate that my Beautiful Space is done I am hosting a giveaway!!

I want to offer  a $20 gift certificate to a store of your choice to the winner!

The store choice must be within my ability to get a gift certificate to!! :)

I am trying to increase my readership so there are more than one ways you can win:

  •  the first way is to leave me a comment ( that’s one entry)
  •  the second way is to refer someone to visit my blog (when they visit and mention that you referred them that’s another entry for you and one entry for them)
  •  the third way is to pin one of these images on Pinterest and link the pin’s url in a comment saying you did ( that’s the final way you can enter)

I will leave this contest open until Friday, March 21rst at 5:00 pm (MST)  and then I will post the winner the next morning (Sat, March 22nd)!!

Thanks so much for visiting and Have an Amazing, Beautiful Day!!

I also linked this card up at Paper Smooches – Anything goes

Anything Goes PSS FINAL

SPARKS BADGE

On Sunday I taught a lesson to a group of women at my church.  I talked about how there is always someone they could write an encouraging note to.  I challenged them to think of someone who “lights” up their life in some way, whether it be by example, their smile, the way they make people feel, and so on.  Then I gave each of the ladies in the group this card:

Used a simple white card base - added some yellow pattern paper and a strip of orange washi tape - then used an embossing folder to add the swirls - on a 1" square I stamped this lightbulb - in the corner stamped You Light Up My Life

My hope was that by having the card in hand they would accept the challenge and go forth and send out letters of encouragement.  This is something that is so important to me because EVERYONE likes and needs to hear nice, kind words full of true praise!! So I know you might not have this card to send but I would love it if you thought of someone who “Lights” up your life and then you wrote to them and let them know!!

I hope you will, if you do and you want to tell me about it, then leave me a little message!! Have a beautiful day!! daisies girl
