More playing yesterday & More Card Making

Here is one of my cards:

For this card I used YoYo Yellow cardstock from Stampin’ Up!  Stamped the word SHINE from a My Favorite Things stamp set called LLD Watt’s Up!  I stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with white powder. The cute sunshine is from a Sizzix die – available here.  I added to the rays of the sunshine some Tangerine Doodlebug jewels!

I am linking this card up to these 2 challenges:

The Card Concept – # 55 {You Are My Sunshine}

I used the Clean & Layered Style.

MFT Card Challenges Sketch Challenge # 281

Felt It – “Bloom”ing Cute!

I played in my craft room this afternoon – I tried out the whole FELT thing.

You really can die cut it – it is amazing!!!

I made this card:

To make this card I used My Favorite Things dies. I used the scallop frame from Blueprints # 1 and the flowers came from Blueprints # 5The smile came from Little Yellow Bicycle.  I used Doodlebug buttons from my stash and matching colors of embroidery floss to add them to the flowers! The smile is glued on but also stapled with a mini stapler!

I made this card just for these challenges:

Best Wishes – a “Whale”y Great Card

I feel like I can never have enough cards on hand for mens’ birthdays – So I made three of this card today to add to my arsenal! This one matched up well with 2 challenges.

Here is my card:

I used a stamp set that I received in a Studio Calico kit a couple years back! All the images on this card are from that set! Using Mint Macaron & Night of Navy ink pads I stamped up this scene. I did the generation stamping to get various depths of color for my ocean!  My whale features the “rock n’ roll” technique – inking up first in the mint and then rolling it on the navy ink pad. I covered my whale with glossy accents – I am not sure you can see that in this photo – but I did, really!! Then I used a Doodlebug Beetle Black Sprinkle for his eye!! And there you have it – My “Whale”y great card!!

I am linking this card up to these 2 challenges:

Thoughts of You

Hello, friends!!!

I have a dear friend in my neighborhood who is having a struggle and she loves flowers so I made this card for her.

Thoughts of You card:

I stamped a REALLY OLD (at least 10 years old) image from Stampin’ Up! coloring on it with marker using Forest Foliage and Eggplant Envy. I stamped this on vellum and then for a background I took a triangle makeup sponge, and using the square end I stamped Eggplant ink on white cardstock. I layered them together and punched two holes and tied some lovely white sheer ribbon – also retro SU! –  through and tied a bow!

I have written an upbeat, encouraging note inside and I am hoping it will brighten my friends day!!

I am hurrying to link this up to the following challenge:

Retro Rubber Challenge# 38 May Colors

I was inspired by the colors in the tulips!! And the stamp set I used is over 10 years old!!

Thanks for looking and I hope you think of someone whose day you could brighten!!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

Daisy Happy Birthday

As I was cleaning up my craft room these past couple weeks I kept discovering images I had stamped and colored, some of them were even cut out. I started putting all of these in a basket so I can actually make something with them. Today’s image was one I had colored 4 of so I made 4 birthday cards (all alike) out of them.

Here’s how they turned out:

I am not even sure what company this stamp is from, I know the greeting is from Stampin’ Up! I used pinking edge circles from My Favorite Things stamp companyI layered the image over the blue pinked edge circles I had cut and layered them on yellow paper from my scrap box! The bow is tied with some blue embroidery floss! And the greeting is stamped in Sahara Sand ink. I colored the image in with some Prismacolor markers I have.

I was inspired to make the card look like this from this challenge:

As You See It ChallengeChallenge # 134

My circle is bigger and takes up more of my background but this is the sketch I used!

Other challenges I am linking up to are:

Try Stampin’ On TuesdayChallenge # 270

There is a sketch there with flowers on it but I went with the OPTIONAL THEME of May flowers!

Cuttlebug ManiaMay Flowers

I used my Big Shot to cut the pinked edge circle and the circle with the image in it!

Again, thank you for stopping by!! I love having you share your thoughts with me!!

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

Whooshing in with a one layer CAS card I made some of for the men I send cards to!

My card looks like this:

I used an old Stampin’ Up set called Little Shapes and ink colors – Tangelo Twist, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand and Basic Black. I added a message – not sure what set it is from – I do know that it is from SU!

I am entering this card into these two challenges:

CAS Colours and SketchesSketch Challenge # 173

Used the colors and the triangles as the inspiration for my card!

Thanks for looking and I will be back soon!!
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Embossed Happy Birthday

Well, folks, here I am! I am not sure I remember how to do this but I am going to post a card I made for a few challenges!!! Hang on tight, and let’s see if I can still do this!!

~~My Card~~

I made this card using an Swirls embossing folder by Darice  and I stamped images from the Altenew stamp set – Persian Motifs. I embossed them in gold and watercolored them with my “ziggy‘s”. I took a square of cardstock and pressed each of the edges on my Versamark ink pad and then added the embossing powder to it! I layered my watercolored image on this square that was now lined with a gold border. I tore the edge, applied some Versamark ink to that edge and embossed there as well!! I tied some gold cording around the card and knotted it!!

I made this card for ~

I heat embossed and I dry embossed!! I am 2 for 2!

This is a birthday card – it has an elegant looking Happy Birthday inside the card!

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge# 360

I used these colors on my Altenew – Persian Motifs card!

THANK YOU so much for joining me today –

I will be back very soon with some Stampin’ Up! sets to give away!! I found them as I cleaned up my craft room and I want them to go to a good home!! Look for a post about that in the next few days!!!

A Favorite Things Party

This year for my birthday I wanted to have a “Favorite Things” Party to celebrate!

I invited 16 people and 12 of them were able to come!

Here is what my invite said explaining how a Favorite Things party works:

Think of something that you LOVE and is your favorite (around $6.00 per item) Bring THREE of that item. We will draw names and everyone will go home with THREE new favorite things. And I will have celebrated my birthday with 16 of my FAVORITE people and learned more about them. What a gift to me!!

I also asked them to email or text me their favorite quote and to wear their favorite color on the day of the party!

When they arrived I had them come to this welcome station and write their name three times on yellow slips of paper for the drawing!

This station was decorated with my Funshine Care Bear given to me at Christmas time by my granddaughter who picked it out for me because I love “lellow”, paper daisies made by a good friend, and an adorable paper pieced sunshine in a frame made for me by my friend Cynthea! All of these represent some favorite things of mine!!

After they arrived and signed their slips I invited them to have a bite to eat from my Favorite Things dessert and refreshment table – some of the refreshments were the most delightful mini coconut creme pies, YUMMY chocolate cupcakes made for me by my friend Annette even though she could not attend the party – so grateful to her, some amazingly sweet mini chocolate chip cookies, a scrumptious fruit salad, veggies and dip, mini rolls, and candies that were yellow!

While they munched on their desserts I went around the room and told why each person was one of my favorite people!! When they were done we shared our favorite things and drew names and just really had a great time!!

Here is some of the decor from the party:

Does the choice of decor surprise you?!?? Nope, it shouldn’t – I still love daisies!!

At the end of the party I almost forgot to give them the favor bags I had prepared for them with a set of 4 cards I had made for each of them (they will feature in a post as soon as I can take pictures of them), a puzzle of rainbow colored cupcakes, Charleston Chew candy stick and some brightly colored pencils!! Here is how they looked all lined up on my fireplace –

And last but not least, I thought I would share my favorite quote with you – This is the kind of person I strive to be, and the reason why I create beautiful things to show people I care!!

daisybestquote3 (1)

So, there you go, my Favorite Things Party!! I really want to share some other things with you but I am having some stress because over the last few months my craft room has become the drop place for several things. My picture taking area is covered with things to sort and put away – but I am working on it and will share the cards I made for this favor soon!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day and that you find time to create something beautiful to show someone you care!!

Hello!! and an update!

I am embarrassed and a little frustrated with myself for taking so very long to post something here. If you have reached out to me please forgive the lack of a response, it has no reflection on you whatsoever, but it helps me see just how overwhelmed with stress and worry I have been.

To say nothing of coping with day to day life. My 2 youngest children are still in school. My daughter is in 11th grade and my son is in 6th grade. We also have a son who is 20 and living at home with us. I have felt that I was just drowning. Besides the health problems I have been having – I have caught every communicable disease/flu/cold that my kiddos have brought home from school.
and on top of it all – everyone still needs a moderately clean environment to live in, clean clothes to wear and food to eat – oh, they always want to eat!!

A shout out to my wonderful husband who has handled SO much of this for me when I couldn’t!! Oh, He is a keeper!!!

My life was also blessed/taken over by a call from the Lord to work with the Young Women in the youth group at our church. 16 beautiful girls, my own daughter included – planning weekly activities for them, Sunday lessons for them, and occasional weekend trips and a week long camping trip this Summer. I work with 3 other amazingly talented ladies but there is much work and service to be done by all of us. This happened in mid December – I really felt like the Lord needed me to serve with them so I said yes when I was asked.

There have been happy things – Christmas, 29th wedding anniversary  a new grandchild was born, lots of time spent taking care of my 3 cute granddaughters (the pic above is a darling play-doh emoji made by my very creative oldest granddaughter!)  and now finally a diagnosis of a healthy heart.

Some blood pressure problems and Diabetes seem to be at the root of my fainting. I am looking forward to figuring out how to feel better. I have been 50 to 60 pounds overweight the last 10 years, at least. I will be taking some nutrition classes and changing my eating styles and I have already lost 7 pounds in the last 10 days.

I share all of this with you because of the friendships I have made with many of you and for the thoughtful concerns and queries that have been sent my way.

Have a wonderful day – you all will be the first to know when I find myself back blogging. I do miss it but my life seems to have continued on without it SO I do have a decision to make and I just don’t feel ready or in the right mindset to make  one right now.

Love – Taunya Butler
